Radio Station MD suspends staff for playing song about Kwankwaso

Director of Radio Kano,
Hajiya Sa’adatu Babaji has reportedly
suspended the station’s Head of
Librarians, Alhaji Habibu Musa Gwangwazo
for playing a song praising former
Governor » , Dr Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso.
A query was also issued to an announcer,
identified as Furera Umar, who was on duty at
the time the song was played, Daily Trust
reports.
“To be sincere, we are in a serious dilemma
in this station. The suspended staff is our
chief librarian and his offense was that he
chooses a song in which the former governor
of the state Dr. Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso
was praised,” a source said.
Kwankwaso has been under apparent attack
from the state due to an alleged fallout between
him and successor, Abdullahi Ganduje .
The former governor’s residence was, on
Tuesday, August 23, 2016, sealed off by police
officers who claimed that they had been given
orders to stop a proposed mass wedding on the
premises.
“We have directed our men to seal the
residence, following an intelligent report that
there is plan to conduct mass wedding at
the house,” Police Public Relations Officer
(PPRO) in the state, Magaji Majia said
confirming the incident.
The officers vacated Kwankwaso’s home about
15 hours later after the invasion was reported to
higher authorities.
However, on Wednesday, August 24, the state
House of Assembly ordered the immediate
removal of all Kwankwasiyya inscriptions from
public buildings in the state. The Kwankwasiyya
movement is Kwakwanso’s brainchild.
Ganduje, in March, threatened to expose
atrocities committed by Kwankwaso during his
tenure.
