“Buhari Still Fighting Insurgency With The Equipment I Bought”. Frm President, G.E.J.

In an interview with France 24, the Nigerian leader said insurgency caught the country unawares but his government laid a solid foundation for terrorism to be defeated. “The new government is working hard and I believe they are still using the equipment we procured. Though the budget is still being debated, no new equipment has been bought, so even those equipment the president is using to prosecute the war against Boko Haram are those equipment we procured,” he said. “When Boko Haram started in Nigeria, we had no terror experience. Yes we had armed robbery and other common crimes, but terrorism was different because the people involved were not afraid to die. “So, you need a different mechanism to confront terrorism, you need superior technology, so that you will be able to stop them even before the attack. We never had the equipment, but when we were confronted, we started acquiring and before I left office we built reasonable capacity and I believe with what we left behind and also

Image
A woman of 42 years identified as Ndodana Chifamba is seen with his wife, Josephine Mhlanga, who stormed his secret wedding It is almost unheard of for wedding guests to object to a union. But at one South African ceremony, a couple had a startling interruption – from the groom’s wife. Ndodana Chifamba, 42, and his bride, known only as Phindile, were preparing to exchange vows at their wedding in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, when the pastor asked if anyone objected to their marriage. Incredibly, a woman swiftly got to her feet and announced she was married to the groom. As other guests looked amazed, Josephine Mhlanga, 46, then declared she had two children with her husband of 20 years and had only found about his secret wedding that day. She said Chifamba who was, by now, stammering could not marry again while she was still alive. Following the explosive revelation, the pastor halted the wedding. He told the red-faced groom and his lover who apparently knew about his wife th

It Is Not My Business If Nnamdi Kanu is Dead or Alive – Okorocha

Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has denied reports flying in the social media that  he called for the hanging of the IPOB leader , Nnamdi Kanu. The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwemeodo, denied knowing Nnamdi Kanu. He said: “I read about him (Kanu) on the pages of newspapers like every other Igbo man or Nigerian. Whether he lives or dies, does not have any value to add to me.” The spokesman said if Kanu dies, he (Okorocha) cannot become director of Radio Biafra or IPOB leader. He said those after Okorocha do not know how to approach their media war against him. “They have no direction. They have no materials. They lack the moral strength. They also lack the spiritual muscle and that is why they will continue to misfire,” he said. He said that since 2011 when Okorocha became governor, he never attacked or insulted anybody or any group because his Godliness and orientation do not warrant him to do such things. “In Imo, the elite

Lessons from Ooni’s historic visit to Alaafin

Image
Apart from deepening the unity of the Yoruba, the historic visit by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, is considered to be a repository of many leadership lessons those running the affairs of Nigeria can learn from The President, Beyond Better Development, Barbara White, who specialises in motivation and training in interpersonal skills for positive impact, might have had the recent action demonstrated by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, at heart when she listed exemplary character, commitment to excellence and ability to think analytically among the seven qualities of a good leader. Less than two months after Oba Ogunwusi stood before dignitaries, including sons and daughters of Ile-Ife who attended his coronation at the popular Enuwa Square in the ancient town and vowed to build a new Yoruba nation where all traditional rulers would unite and promote unity among the ethnic group, the Ooni used his last Sunday’s historic vi

OAU Students’ Union Leadership Confirms Studentship Suspension

Image
The leadership of the Students’ Union of Obafemi Awolowo Uniuversity has finally broken her long silence on the suspension of some Union officers. Ojedokun Emmanuel a.k.a Immanuel Kant, the Students’ Union Public Relations Officer in a Release tagged ‘Immanuel Kant Speaks, Our Suspension and Victimization: A bullet in the Heart’, confessed that it is now due for him to break the silence on the suspension of the Union officers by either authenticating or debunking it. As expected, the PRO confirmed that their studentship has been truly suspended. “The widespread rumour needs authentication or debunking. Sequel to the suspension of union activities, the invitation of some union leaders to an investigation panel and the re-opening of the university, I must confirm to you that truthfully, our studentship has been suspended for semesters. “This decision was said to have been made at the recommendation of the Panel that was set up by the University administration. It should be noted the si

Why You Must Avoid Carryovers At All Cost As An Undergraduate

Carry overs in the university system is normal; it basically means a student has an unfinished business. A student can only carry over a course when he or she scores 39 downward in both C.A and exam (over 100). Carry overs are not in all cases a real reflection of how intelligent or not intelligent a student is, rather it's a reflection of how unserious, unsmart (if that word exist), unchecked and uninterested a student is.  I have seen highly intelligent students have numerous carry overs and relatively dull students pass through without carry overs. Such is life, that's why a coin is two sided. Carry over can also be a result of unfortunate and unlucky incidents, such as missing scripts, lecturer's attitude towards marking your script, or even a student's handwriting (that's right). I have once been a victim of an unlucky situation. I was not around Kogi State when an assignment worth 20 marks was been submitted, when I heard about it I quickly rushed back to sch

You can’t be Olubadan, chiefs tell Oyediji, endorse Adetunji

Late Oba Samuel Odulana 35131 Olufemi Atoyebi The Olubadan-in-Council on Thursday dismissed the call by the Head of Seriki family line in Ibadan, Chief Adebayo Oyediji, that the kingmakers should install him as the new Olubadan of Ibadanland. The last occupier of the throne, Oba Samuel Odugade, died on Tuesday at the age of 101, having reigned over the ancient city for eight years. By Ibadan succession system, the Balogun Olubadan, High Chief Saliu Adetunji, holds pole position to succeed the late Oba Odugade. But Oyediji, 89, had said on Wednesday that the Olubadan-in-Council would be flouting a 1989 ruling of the Supreme Court, which granted him the right to become the next king of Ibadan after Oba Odugade’s reign if it crowned 87-year-old Adetunji as the new Ibadan king. He had said, “I am the next to be installed (the) Olubadan and not Adetunji.” He claimed that the last Otun Seriki, Chief Adisa Akinloye, was denied the opportunity to become the Olubadan befo

ICPC arraigns ex-governor Yerima for N1bn fraud

The Independent Corrupt Practices Commission on Thursday arraigned former Governor Sani Yerima of Zamfara State before a Gusau High Court over an allegation that he misapplied over N1bn while in office in 2006. Yerima is standing trial on a 19-count charge bordering on misappropriation of funds, according to the News Agency of Nigeria. Counsel for the ICPC, Mr. Mashkur Salisu, said the money was a bank loan meant for the repair of the collapsed Gusau Dam and the payment of compensations to the victims affected by the incident. Salisu alleged that Yerima diverted the money to other purposes. The offence, he said, is contrary to, and punishable under section 25 (1) (a) of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Act 2000.
