REDEMPTIVE LOVE

Image
“Now there is a final reason I think that Jesus says, "Love your enemies." It is this: that love has within it a redemptive power. And there is a power there that eventually transforms individuals. Just keep being friendly to that person. Just keep loving them, and they can’t stand it too long. Oh, they react in many ways in the beginning. They react with guilt feelings, and sometimes they’ll hate you a little more at that transition period, but just keep loving them. And by the power of your love they will break down under the load. That’s love, you see. It is redemptive, and this is why Jesus says love. There’s something about love that builds up and is creative. There is something about hate that tears down and is destructive. So love your enemies. (from "Loving Your Enemies")”  ―  Martin Luther King Jr. ,  A Knock at Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ndume said this in reaction to newspaper reports that the legislature was facing financial challenges, he said that the situation was so worrisome that legislators were not receiving their allowances as and when due. “I know that the whole country is in financial difficulty, not only National Assembly. I have been in the National Assembly since 2003 but things keep getting worse; I think they paid us last month’s salary on the 16th of the following month or thereabouts,” Ndume told newsmen in Abuja. He said it wasn’t only lawmakers facing this problem, but other arms of the government are also facing a lack of funds. “It is not only with the National Assembly, some states have not been able to pay salaries for six months, one year. Some states were even asking their workers to go and farm for two days and work for the other thr

Ibrahimovic set to break Manchester United's 91-year-old record

Image
– Zlatan Ibrahimovic aims to write his name in United’s history books  –A strike against Hull City will equal a 91-year set by Jimmy Mason  – The veteran striker has scored three winning goals for the Red Devils this season Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one goal away from breaking the club’s 91-year-old record if he scores against Hull City on Saturday, August 27. Ibrahimovic headed the winner against Leicester City in the community shield. The summer signing from Paris Saint Germain has been in blistering form since his arrival at Old Trafford, scoring three goals in the opening two matches of the Premier League. If the Swede finds the back of the net against Hull, he will equal Jimmy Manson’s incredible feat of the 1924/1925 season. Mason is the only player to have scored in three consecutive games of his debut for Manchester United. However, 34-year-old Zlatan has showed no sign of aging as his 100% start of the season seems to have ended the Red Devil’s previo

I Did Not Bring Buhari To Power – Obasanjo

Image
Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo on Tuesday debunked newspaper reports quoting him as saying that he and a few others brought President Muhammadu Buhari to power. He dismissed the reports as baseless, untrue and calculated attempts to smear him. Obasanjo, who is in Jalingo, Taraba State, said President Buhari was overwhelmingly voted by many Nigerians. “ No single individual or group can claim that glory,” he said. During a courtesy visit to Governor Darius Ishaku, Obasanjo spoke about the economic potentials of the state. He said the Mambila Plateau in Taraba had the potential of becoming the hub of tea production in Africa. He expressed determination to promote the tea production potential of the state using his connections and experience. “ The Taraba tea factory is a symbol of national greatness. The tea potential of this state can attract global demand and earn the nation foreign exchange,” he said. Obasanjo noted that beside tea, the state also had potentials in cattl

BABANGIDA REVEALS TOUGHEST JOB

Image
Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has revealed that the toughest encounter in his military career was during the Biafra civil war. The former head of state gave this revelation during his 75th birthday which was celebrated in Minna, Niger state on Wednesday, August 15. NAN reports that Babangida said during the Biafra war, he trekked from Enugu to Umuahia and also sustained serious injuries. “Movement from Enugu to Umuahia was very tough and challenging because you need to be physically fit to be able to undertake that kind of journey on foot. “We had to go through the jungles and the hills. I think it was my toughest encounter in the army because that was where I got wounded in April 1969.” He said he joined the army to protect Nigeria and being in the “military means that you must subject yourself to a constituted authority to execute all the tasks assigned to you by the government.” He noted that being a soldier was tougher than the work of a president and explained that the constitutio

POGBA WON'T PLAY AGAINST BOURNEMOUTH

Image
Manchester United’s Paul Pogba is banned for the club’s season opener against Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth. The FA announced that the midfielder will miss the season opener alongside club teammate Chris Smalling, Tottenham’s Moussa Dembele and Robert Huth of Leicester City. The 23-year-old’s two bookings in last season’s Coppa Italia, in the win over Inter in March and the final against AC Milan in his final outing for Juventus, has been transferred across to England.

PAUL POGBA: A DEFINITION OF DETERMINATION

Image
When Paul Pogba left in 2012,he told Rio Ferdinand, "I am leaving to be the best." Being an ambitious player, he left for the italian club, Juventus where he won four Serie A titles, and became one of the best midfielders in the world. I am a united fan but it really pains me that we have to pay that much(93 million pounds) to bring him back having left for a meagre fee as a teenager. Anyway, my prayer is that he delivers, and with the help of other new signings and the old players, take the club back to its position which is the top. Paul Pogba is an example of determination and I learned from him. He said he wants to be the best and today, he is the most expensive footballer in history. GLORY, GLORY, MANCHESTER UNITED. #POGBACK

Image
A female student of Obafemi Awolowo University has told a story of what happened after she was taken hostage and released inside a jungle. Saturday, July 23, 2016, was one day that will always give 18-year-old Praise Adelakin nightmares. That day, a journey from Ile-Ife, Osun State, to Ibadan, Oyo State, that was supposed to take her about two hours only, almost turned out to be a journey of no return. A 300 Level Law student of Obafemi Awolowo University, Praise had gone to the school in the morning of that day to check whether her things were still intact in her hostel before resumption after some weeks of strike by lecturers in the institution. Around 4pm, when she ensured she had put everything in place, she left for the Mayfair Motor Park in the town to board a bus going to Ibadan, where her family resides. All things being equal, she should have been back in Ibadan by around 6pm on the same day, but by 12 midnight of the following day, she found herself in Ilorin, Kwara State. N
