HART, SEAMAN, JAMES & ENGLAND'S WORST EVER GOALKEEPING MISTAKES

Image
Peter Bonetti, David Seaman, David James... and now Joe Hart. If you can rely on something, it's the unreliability of an English goalkeeper. June 27, 2016 | Euro 2016, Round of 16 | England 1-2 Iceland Having thrown away a 1-0 lead after just a few minutes, the pressure was on England to live up to expectations and dump out underdogs Iceland in the round of 16, but the result that followed has been dubbed England's biggest ever humiliation. Kolbeinn Sigthordsson fired a shot at Joe Hart in the 18th minute, which the keeper failed to properly deal with. The ball rolled agonisingly slowly into the €150,000-a-week keeper's net and cost the Three Lions their dignity as well as a spot in the quarter finals. DEALING WITH STRESS- TOLULOPE OLAIFA

BY TOLULOPE OLAIFA Dealing with Stress- How not to Get Overwhelmed In Nigeria, we find ourselves facing stress on all sides- economic decline, power shortage, fuel price increase, even the “common” tomatoes we took for granted have started showing themselves. Believe it or not, accumulated stress is one of the major reasons why there has been an alarming increase in the death rate of young and middle-aged adults in Nigeria.  Unfortunately, Nigerians do not seem to understand the need to take a step back and relax for a while. Even while we are sleeping, some of us (even I’m guilty) find ourselves dreaming of unfinished work and missing deadlines. Our bodies are not built to take such amounts of stress, so once in a while, we need to take a step back and realise that life goes on, irrespective of whatever happens. These are a few tips for dealing with stress in your daily life. DO NOT GO HOME IN WORK MODE . Leave the stress of the day and of your job at the door, so that you ca

The Scrapping Of Post-UTME Does Not Mean There Won't Be Screening

Image
One of the major decisions taken at the end of the 2016 policy meeting that has all the stakeholders in the education in attendance, was that post-UTME should be scrapped. Obviously, many candidates do not understand the import of this going by the number of calls we have been receiving concerning this. Many of them think that since post-UTME has been scrapped there's not going to be any form of screening before they secure admission. For the avoidance of doubt, schools are going to still conduct screening for candidates. However, the method of screening will differ depending on the school.  Now you may wonder what's the big deal about scrapping post-UTME in the first place? The scrapping of post-UTME only means that schools are not to conduct screening exercises similar to JAMB UTME. Many schools screening exercises seem more like sitting for JAMB UTME again because the same subjects you sat for in JAMB UTME are what you are being tested on again. According to the educati

Saraki filed his fresh application accusing Umar of bias based on the remark made by the tribunal chairman at the last proceedings on June 7, 2016, while warning the defence against delay tactics. Umar made the statement that was picked up while warning the defence that their delay tactics would not “reduce the consequences the defendant will meet in this tribunal at the end of the trial”. At the resumed hearing in the case on Wednesday, lead defence counsel, Agabi, informed the tribunal of the motion which he said had yet to be oppose
