THERE IS HOPE FOR NIGERIA- E.A ADEBAYO

“VOICE OF HOPE”
Though our politicians with big pot-bellies,
Ride in their big and long ferries,
Deceive the people, speak so dearly,
Enjoy their feast on our bread, daily,
There is still hope!

Though our hungry road agents,
Policemen, they are being addressed,
Extort money, their business, most active,
“We are your friends,” their popular anthem,
There is still hope!

Though our pulpit managers,
Metamorphosed into pocket marshals,
Money, they make their master,
Forget their divine mandate,
There is still hope!

Though our people, ‘good’ citizens,
For various reasons,
Criticize the elected leaders,
For the way they handle national matters,
There is still hope!

Though our power supply is crippled,
And the necessities, neglected,
Many workers, corrupted,
And the good ones, not appreciated,
There is still hope!

Though agriculture, we forget,
Our alpha, we neglect,
Then oil and gas, we adopt,
Our future, we afflict,
There is still hope!

Though our economy is getting worse,
Different from the seventies’ horse,
When the masses suffer not,
And the country, affluence nurse,
There is still hope!

Though our sport is deteriorating,
Its administrators, disappointing,
Sportsmen’s display, most annoying,
People’s trust, depreciating,
There is still hope!
