THE Federal Government, has pleaded withthe three striking non teaching staff unions in the universities that embarked on strike yesterday to suspend their action in the interest of the nation.The three University unions, the National Association of Academic Technologists, NAAT, Non Academic Staff Union and the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, had yesterday, started a five-day warning strike over the inability of the Federal Government to implement the 2009 Agreements with the unions.

Buhari can’t secure lives and properties of Nigerians - CAN

With continued killings in Southern Kaduna killings, Fulani herdsmen attacks and kidnapping in Nigeria, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) said the Federal Government has not been able to live up to its primary responsibility of securing lives and property, The Christian body said although the government had recorded some successful in tackling insurgency in the North-East, taking Fulani herdsmen attacks with sentiment would not help the country. President of CAN, Dr. Samson Ayokunle, in a statement by his media assistant, Pastor Bayo Oladeji noted that most of the economic policies of the government have no human face. CAN urged the government to change its attitude of not responding to issues raised by its citizens until the situation has gone out of hands. “The rising wave of kidnapping is rampant in the East but has almost become a lucrative business now in the West and North. Ajibola Ajimobi Lambasts LAUTECH Students

Ajibola, the second child of the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, has joined her father in lambasting students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho in Oyo State, who staged a protest over the continued closure of their school. The school is jointly owned by the Oyo and Osun State Governments and had been shut for about eight months. The students took their protest to the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, where Ajimobi addressed them, using what many have termed uncouth language. Ajibola’s father told the students that they lacked manners for not respecting constituted authority. He said he remains the constituted authority in their case.
