"Nigeria must return to agriculture' - Obasanjo

Nigeria’s former president, Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigeria had no excuse for the poor state of its agriculture sector. Obasanjo stated this at an agriculture seminar in Abuja organised by Lift Above Poverty Organisation (LAPO), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) on Tuesday, October 18. According to him, researches had revealed that about 65 per cent of the country’s population were faced with “food insecurity’’. He called on Nigerians to make agriculture more attractive, saying that the country had a comparative advantage in the sector and should, therefore, not suffer food shortage, Vanguard reports. Obasanjo expressed concern that investment in the sector could not address the food insecurity in the country. He said that some countries that went through the same challenges as Nigeria had all walked out of the problem, but that Nigeria’s was getting worse. “We must return to agriculture as a means to increase our food production in Nigeria. “We must all play our cards eit

Buratai said these attacks are mostly carried out outside the borders of Nigeria. “You cannot call it resurgence. We are taking care of all these. Wherever there is attack, we look at it to see what happened so that we can address specific issues,” Buratai said. “This is a conflict and we have done very well and gone very far. We have pushed them outside our territory. Those who attack mostly come from outside to attack our people. “So, we are working with the multinational Joint Task Force to address that. They are very few and they come from across borders,” he said. While working with the MNJTF to address insurgent attacks at the Basin, Buratai said the Nigerian

He stated that raid on the homes of the judges was not done according to due process.“Any allegation against the NJC, with due respect, is quite erroneous. Apparently, they are not aware of the position of the NJC; we always rely on what we read on the newspapers and social media,” Olagunju said. “Based on the facts available to us, the NBA, NJC is doing what they are supposed to do and they are doing well. Share on Facebook Share on Twitter File photo: Soldiers ready to join Boko Haram and ISIS over unfair dismissal from the army. According to Ghana Web, the threat comes after what the soldiers have termed an unfair treatment after they were unceremoniously dumped out of boot camp. The recruits said even though some of their colleagues were found wanting by the instructors, they had never claimed the training was too difficult as claimed by the leadership of the training school, the basis for which they were sent home. Convener of the recruits, Frank Antwi, in an interview with Adom News said though they could not complete their training, the training they had before the unfortunate dismissal from the training school is enough to qualify them to be recruited into ISIS or Boko Haram unless they are recalled into the training school. Image
The news in Nigeria of late has been filled with many words, but one that scares everyone most is the word: Recession. There have been rumors that the Nigerian economy was facing a rapid downturn over a long time, but right now, those rumors have graduated into fact. Recession in Nigeria has affected foodstuff prices The prices of foodstuff, of staples and other things Nigerians use from day to day have skyrocketed. The panic is spreading slowly as people are finding it difficult to afford food and other important things. How though can families and individuals pull through this economic recession successfully? 1. Budget During this recession, it is vital to spend wisely. One key way to do that is to have a budget.
